Here are some of the activities of the Foundation in 2018:
Wellness: Fit-4-Life continues to hold events for the wellness of this community. Among 2018’s events were the Winter Wellness Campaign, Orchards in Bloom, Hoofin’ & Woofin’, Healthy Kids Fair, Autumn Leaf Run, Zombie Fun Run, and Jingle Bell Jog. Fit-4-Life activities brought in nearly $12,000 and committee/board members continue to put these funds back into future wellness activities.
Scholarships: Funds are available for employees for continuing education. In 2018, the Foundation offered one $250 scholarship, and awarded another $1,000 scholarship, to two employees through this program. Scholarships are also available to community members. I’ve attached both applications so these can be shared more widely with employees and any community members who reach out for this information.
Equipment/Software: In September 2018, the Foundation purchased Zoom Meeting Software so that employees and board members could attend meetings remotely from any location. Through the Dengel Fund, the Foundation purchased Up-to-Date software for the providers and staff to utilize.
Mammography Funds: The Foundation used ‘Tough-Enough-to-Wear-Pink’ funds to pay more than $1,700.00 for mammograms and ultrasounds for women who couldn’t afford them.
Campaign Fundraising: In October, the Foundation launched a campaign to raise funds for the ‘Therapies’ department at Mid-Valley Hospital. We are still in the midst of this campaign and looking for donations. We will choose a department each fall to do this for, with hopes that the fundraising effort will grow each year. So far, this campaign has raised more than $2,100.00 for equipment for the PT/OT departments. Attached is the letter we sent to local businesses—please feel free to reach out to any business owners you know to see if they would like to make a tax-deductible donation to this campaign. Employees could be added to the ‘tree’ also with their tax-deductible donation.
Other Activities: The Hospital Foundation sponsored the Mid-Valley Hospital flag flyer at the Omak Stampede, the OVOC Musical ‘The Drowsy Chaperone’, the Omak High School Yearbook, and created a new website for the Foundation, which anyone can visit, at www.mvh-foundation.org.
