Buffy was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She moved to Massachusetts for her first two years of college, and then transferred to the University of Utah, where she graduated with Bachelor’s Degrees in Biology (2006) and Nursing (2008). Immediately following her graduation in 2008, she commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy as an active duty Navy Nurse. She served for five years in Jacksonville, Florida, and deployed twice during her active duty service. The first tour was to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, providing medical care to detainees. The second was to Helmand Province, Afghanistan with the Marine Corps, as an ER/Trauma nurse in a shock-trauma platoon (STP) and forward resuscitative surgical system (FRSS). Following her active service, she transitioned into the Navy Reserves, and continues to serve in this capacity. She returned to the University of Utah in 2013 for graduate school, and graduated with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) in May 2016, and specializes as an Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP). In her free time, Buffy enjoys the outdoors, including hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and riding her Harley. She has three dogs with her partner, Rebbecca.
